Topic: IRS Whistleblower Program and Circular 230. Participants will learn about the following items: brief history of the whistleblower program and §26 USC7623(a), the Tax Relief and Health Care Act of 2006 and the key change in law to add §7623(b), what the whistleblower office does, how to report a case to the whistleblower office, using the Internal Revenue manual §25.2.2 for whistleblower awards, IRS Taint Team and the Taint review process, false claim act from 31 U.S.C. §3729-33 and some aspects of IRS.gov’s e-Services, what form to file and how to prepare 211 and form 3949-A and where to file it, whistleblower program and circular 230, and IRC §6103 as per the Restructuring and Reform act of 1998. There will be a question and answer period after the program.
Speaker Bio: Benny R Montgomery was born in Danville, Va. Sep 6th 1938 and attended Dan River High School, finishing in 1957. He was in the army from 1962 to 1965. He then attended Phillips Business College and finished the course in Higher Accounting Major in 1972. Benny has worked in corporate accounting and started his own accounting business in 1971 where he is still employed. He taught taxes and accounting in college part-time for 8 years. He passed the EA exam on his first try in 1975 and received certificate in 1976.

Receiving CE credit for attending VASEA chapter meetings is a benefit of VASEA membership. All active members and associates in good standing are eligible to receive IRS CE credit through the VASEA office for chapter meetings at no charge.
