The purposes of the Virginia Society of Enrolled Agents (VASEA) are to:
- provide organized professional education opportunities for Enrolled Agents;
- represent the Enrolled Agent at the state level with all government agencies;
- promote and protect the interests of Enrolled Agents.
National Association of Enrolled Agents (NAEA)
The National Association of Enrolled Agents is the national association of more than 10,000 Enrolled Agents who represent more than 5 million taxpayers. NAEA helps EA members maintain a high level of knowledge, skills, and professionalism in all areas of taxation, so they can most effectively represent the tax needs of their clients.
VASEA Chapters
The Commonwealth of Virginia is divided into five chapter areas, corresponding to the areas that have the largest concentration of Enrolled Agents within their boundaries. Chapter activities are the backbone of our society and they are your nearest contact.
To be a member of a local chapter you must be a member of NAEA/VASEA. To be an associate of a local chapter you must be an associate of VASEA.
For information on chapters and their boundaries, call the VASEA office at (804) 723-5888 or contact the appropriate Chapter.

- Fredericksburg (FC)
- Hampton Roads (HRC)
- Northern Virginia (NVC)
- Richmond (RC)
Enrolled Agents are required to join both NAEA and VASEA. Visit the NAEA “Join Us” page for more information and an application.
If you are not an Enrolled Agent, but a professional in a tax-related field, VASEA is the professional organization for you! Associates enjoy all the benefits of membership except the right to vote and to hold office.
If you are interested in becoming an Enrolled Agent, VASEA offers many educational opportunities to help you achieve that goal
Associates are not required to join both NAEA/VASEA, but can choose either one or both. Therefore, you can join NAEA using the Join Us link or join only VASEA using vasea-associate-application-form
